About The Artwork

Kanoa means "the free one" in Hawaiian. The Pacific Islander boy is enjoying his freedom on a hot summer day as he ponders whether to let the giant moth in his hands go free. Kanoa is a picture of adolescence and the soon-to-be advancement into manhood. It depicts the freedom of childhood and the maturity required to live in the outside world of manhood. This sculpture was designed to be placed in a garden or near a water feature. It is made entirely of bronze which is the best metal for outside display with easy maintenance. This piece has a structural base for bolting to a concrete pad or surface.
