I'm originally from the East Coast, however, I now reside in Las Vegas, Nevada. My experiences living in urban areas such as Washington DC and Baltimore have greatly influenced her work and her perspective. My aesthetic vision is deeply rooted in the idea of interconnectedness and survival. I understand that in urban environments, knowing when to make connections and from whom is crucial for not only personal survival, but also for the survival of communities. Through my sculpture work, I seek to explore the relationship between urban decay, the effects of redlining, and the ability of communities to connect with nature through salvage, green spaces, and even urban blight. I use cement as a medium because it's prevalent in urban cities and adds a distinct texture and weight to each sculpture. My intention is to create a powerful visual representation of the complex and often difficult realities of life in urban environments. Through my work, I invite you to consider the importance of intentional living and the ways in which we can connect with each other and the world around us.
