ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Every artist is moved by passion and restlessness, feelings that guide the direction of art. Thus, the artist and journalist Zago, who has vast experience in the arts, is moved. DJ and producer living in São Paulo-SP, Brazil, now dedicates his talent to wood sculptures — using reuse wood. The idea of creating sculptures with wood that would go to waste arose from the need to express the concern with climatic conditions — how important it is to preserve nature, especially trees. “Treating wood as a product is an ignorant way of looking at nature because we depend on trees for everything. It's a lifetime.” The pieces have disconnected shapes and refer to man's disconnection from nature, which is not seen as part of the environment. The colors of the works yellow, orange, red and black allude to fires, one of the problems we are experiencing, especially in the North and Midwest. Green represents the strength and permanence of living vegetation. The names of the sculptures are references to the indigenous peoples of Brazil, who are the great guardians of the forests. This piece makes reference to the xoclengues, xokleng, laklãnõ or botocudos, a Brazilian indigenous group that inhabits the indigenous areas Ibirama-La Klãnõ, Postos Velhos, Rios dos Pardos and the Quati community (Porto União), in the state of Santa Catarina, in the Brazil.
