Rebecca Montemurro

Painting is like a form of meditation to me. It transports me, calms me, and makes me extremely happy.
It is my intention to inspire and brighten the mood of those who view my large acrylic paintings. My pieces add the finishing touch to both modern and traditional spaces. Each painting is mounted on gallery depth framing using the finest quality canvas and acrylic paints. Varnish is applied to preserve the painting from UV light and dust, thus preserving the life of the piece.

I studied under painter/sculptor Ora Markstein, an Auschwitz survivor and mentor. My formal education includes a B.A. in Psychology/History and a B.Ed. from the University of Western Ontario. After a brief career teaching elementary school, I now paint, sculpt, and write full time.

My influences include artists Ora Markstein, Claire Basler, Mirella Monti Belche, Carmelo Blandino, Erin Fitzhugh Gregory, Darlene Cole, Cecily Brown, and of course Van Gogh and Monet.
