Rebecca Barnard

Rebecca’s creative background is rooted in landscape; its healing qualities, but also its destruction through the personal experience of having a motorway built near her country home. As a creative adult and practicing artist, this early combination of finding profound peace and safety within the natural visual and audible world, and then experiencing its total loss, led to a deep interest in the complexities of preserving mental wellbeing as well as a fascination in human behaviour. She is interested in the struggle for understanding and balance, both as a species and as an independent human being.

Rebecca's multi-disciplinary approach incorporates sculpture, installation, sound and film as well as her first love, painting. The work is labour intensive and her process is as important as the emotion evoked by the outcome.
