My art is influenced by the notion that seemingly insignificant occurrences have the potential to produce profound results. It speaks from an aesthetic framework of singular concepts, with a desire to stimulate thought rather than impose ideology.
Enough of the bull shit. I am 72 years old, and when asked how long I have been painting I would say "all my life". Which isn't quite true. In 2010, redundant and fed up, I enrolled on a Visual Art degree course at the University of Kent, graduating with First Class Honours in 2013. The most important thing Uni taught me was to step outside my comfort zone, which I did. Therefore, in reality I have been painting for only 6 years. The 50 or so years before that was a self indulgent stroll through a stagnant artistic sanatorium where nothing ever changed. Ironically time no longer matters. It has become more important to get what is inside my head onto canvas. There is more shouting and swearing but greater satisfaction when things go right.
I graduated from the University of Kent in 2013 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Visual Arts with First Class Honours. I was also the recipient of the Morgan Sindall Award for Design Creativity and Outstanding Contribution.
