Rebecca's initial production of works were still life paintings. Influenced by views of the countryside in the rolling hills of Stockton NJ, Hodges turned toward the creation of representational painting of subjects in her surroundings. This included her interpretation of her environment in both the landscape and still life where she concentrated on developing her technical skills. Rebecca is known for giving her paintings a sense of the ethereal in a highly realistic fashion, yet with an almost painterly feel. Her natural gift of capturing the essence of her subjects in the moment creates a sense of wonder and tells a story using rich color, composition and light. Rebecca has a remarkable eye for taking the ordinary and making it interesting and special – creating a different and unique perspective of a well-known theme. In 2001 she had her first solo exhibition in at Hampton Road Gallery in Southampton, NY
