Richard Goldstein

I was born in 1961 in East London, UK. I won a series of local and regional painting and modelling competitions between the age of nine and fifteen.
Much of my early life was spent in the UK and USA as a musical instrument maker and tuner, but I have always loved painting in oils since the age of about twelve.
I was a graphics, scenery designer and modeller for various software publishers 2001-2007, for which I won several of the industry's top awards.
I have been employed as an teacher in a Secondary School with additional responsibilities that included specialist art classes.
As a painter I am a tonalist who strives to capture the true appearance of things, as they appear to the naked eye, in a way that no digital or photographic medium can reproduce. I am particularly interested in the way our perception of value, hue and form fluctuates with varying lighting conditions and moods.
