Seeking the balance between the raw energy of the haphazardly placed brush and the serenity of composition. This is how I prefer to work.

It's not always easy to enter this flow. Thoughts constantly intrude during the process. While gut decisions are made in a split second, the mind rationalizes. This often results in a compromise painting – a mishmash of calculated choices that undermine the spontaneity and beauty of the raw brushwork. A painting transforms from pure and uninhibited to controlled and managed. The longer it takes to create a painting, the greater the chance that reason will interfere...
