I was always drawn to realistic painting but as time passed I found myself increasingly
interested in using abstract elements in my work. Balancing these two styles in one painting has become one of the things that I enjoy about making art. I allow myself allusions to the surreal, but without any intentional symbolism – details that you might imagine from the corner of your eye. A reviewer once described my artwork as questioning reality. I sometimes find joy in using confusion as an artistic tool to raise considerations about how we remember things
