Making art is for me is both a rebellion against the loss of childhood and a form of growing up. Through my artistic practice I research and experiment with my own desire for love and recognition in a world obstructed by formulas and ready-made fantasies.

As a photographer whose practice consists mainly on self-photography, I explore the multiple possibilities that rely in the relationship between the photographer and the photographed (between the subject and the object; between the dominatrix and the dominated; between the mother and the child), a practice that can be described as a sadomasochistic rite I have with myself, as a performance of three or as a metaphoric masturbation – the result of this being the still image presented to the audience. The resulting imagery is often humorous or grotesque, for my prime materials are extracted from the grandiose, glamorous, plastic- sexy world of magazines, film and advertisement that have invaded our minds and social behavior (or at least, my mind and social behavior) in the 21th century.

As a feminist artist, I question the definitions and boundaries of the gender and often mock my own “womanhood” and sexuality while intending to expose the lies and contradictions hidden behind ...
