Texture and color use are at the forefront in my work to convey the large, powerful and graceful movement of the horse. Often the images undulate into and out of the atmosphere of the painting, almost as if the atmosphere was breathing them in and out. The viewer becomes a participant in the painting, following a dorsal line, searching for another image. This give and take is equal to that of a horse and rider, searching for moment of complete understanding and communication. The bright colors and heavy texture give physical body to the forms, even in places where there is seemingly no form, making the viewer feel that s/he is able to touch something transcendent.
