I utilize the medium of photography to create stunning & vibrant images that instantly try to grab the viewers attention. My work celebrates everyday objects such as childrens toys, plastic cars & fridge magnets in the same way that the Pop Artists from the 50s & 60s depicted images borrowed from mass culture & consumerism. Like the pop artists before me my images have a strong visual style & are often likened to graphic design with their bold use of colour & composition. I try to create highly stylized images that offer a different take on reality. I take the ordinary or mundane & turn it into something unexpected, challenging people to view it in a new light.My work in the mid to late 90s was created using 2 large format plate cameras. With these I was able to create complex multiple exposures on sheets of 10 x 8 transparency film. The majority of my images from this period are often initially thought to be the result of Photoshop wizardry, which is praise indeed. During 2000 I was able to begin experimenting with high-resolution digital capture, & was blown away by its immediacy & quality.
