Robert Reis

1949 in northern Germany, near Hamburg, was born. For over 50 years of artistic work in many techniques. The focus of my work always on the examination of the individual human being.

The artist Robert Reis, born in 1949, spent many years of his life as a traveller between the worlds. He lived in different places in North- and South Germany, interrupted by experience-intensive and impression-intensive trips in Europe. Today he lives and works in Bremervörde and Baden-Baden. Robert Reis calls himself forcefully „autodidact“, as somebody who has compiled his profession and his art himself. This corresponds to his external curriculum vitae with business education and more for many years freelance activity in the professional photography as well as his artistic development. His professional career was stamped by the meeting with the painting, with painter‘s friends, particularly the long-standing friendship with the Chilean artist Carlo Gonzalez Yanez. They opened the spectrum, the possibilities and forms of expression of the fine art. His creating testifies from this unconditional desire for freedom. He cannot be cut into in the corset of the artistic allegiance, in the limitations and possibilities of the photography. „He limits himself“ on the one hand to simple black-white photos or, on the other hand, he extends his spectrum by assemblies which picture groundings overlap in surreal manner.
