A graduate of Yale University's graduate school of Art and Architecture where he majored in painting, James Robie has been making art his entire life. Besides having exhibited his artwork in New York and Los Angeles over the last 3 decades he is the founder and creative director of James Robie design Associates, a multi-disciplined design firm specializing in corporate graphic design.

As an undergraduate at UCLA he studied with Richard Diebenkorn and in 1967 he was awarded a fellowship to the Yale school of art and music in Norfolk CT. While attending Yale's graduate school of painting he studied painting with Lester Johnson, Al Held, and Jack Tworkov.

Upon graduation he worked at Gemini Editions Limited in Los Angeles, making 3-D multiples for Roy Litchenstein, Robert Rauschenberg, Edward Keinholtz and Claes Oldenberg.

Between 1982 and 1984, he was responsible for the design of over 650 projects for the Los Angeles Olympic Organization Committee for the 1984. A partial list of clients have include The J Paul Getty Trust, Northrop Grumman Corp., Teledyne Technologies, The Atlantic Richfield Company, Korn Ferry International, TRW, Lockheed Martin, and Pacific Investment Management Company (PIMCO).
