As a visual artist I am always looking for ways to express my vision of the world around me. nature is a constant source of inspiration. I get new ideas during my walks through the high mountains and vast forests of Europe.

Nature, especially the forest, also plays the leading role in my recent work. we behold a collection of trees, or at least what could pass for that. the 'trees' are not painted realistically. we also recognize shapes that suggest branches, but nowhere distinguish leaves. the emphasis is on the light source coming from one of the corners and the orange dots that seem to dance through the dark forest like fireflies. This light source is important: it tries to entice the viewer to come closer and become part of the work of art.

the idea of ​​two opposing sources of light and energy, the sun and fire, is an important element in my work. by juxtaposing these two elements, I invite the viewer to reflect on the role of these forces in our lives and our current ecosystem. it is an invitation to reflect on current events.
