Robyn Daly is an Irish-South African performative visual artist living and working in Ireland. A former photojournalist and editor turned commercial product photographer, she switched to fine-art photography in 2025. She has been on the judging panel of several photographic competitions
in Africa, including the Fuji Wildlife Awards, and has co-authored several books on travel and photography. She moved to Ireland in 2020 and settled in Ballymahon
in a semi-derelict 1920s house that has provided the canvas for many of her works.
She holds a Masters Degree in English Literature from Rhodes University with a specialisation in women’s studies and 19th century fairy stories, influences that have carried through to her photographic work in Ireland, with a growing interest in Irish folklore, often referenced in the liminality of her images. In addition she draws inspiration from a wide range of artists, including Degas, Picasso, Jenny Saville and Tracey Emin, evidenced in the painterly quality of many of her works, and the works of notable women photographers such as Lee Miller, Cindy Sherman and Francesca Woodman.
A highlight of her career has been the recent acquisition of one of her works (The Chemistry of Me) for the Female Artists ...
