Rodrigo De Castro

My painting practice is rooted in contemporary abstraction and is closely connected to process and material exploration. I work through the accumulation of layers, allowing gesture, color, and texture to record time and decision-making on the surface.
I am interested in preserving a strong physical presence in the work, where the act of painting remains visible and becomes part of the final result. The compositions often develop through horizontal rhythms and flowing movements, creating visual fields that invite slow and sustained viewing.

Color plays a central role in my practice, understood as both atmosphere and structure, capable of shaping different emotional climates. Through these paintings, I seek to offer a direct sensory experience in which ideas of time, memory, and inner landscape emerge, positioning painting as an open space for exploration.
