Rosemary Michel

((ENGLISH) Rosemary is an abstract artist working primarily in acrylics. Creative from an early age, she learned to sew at 12 and soon began redrawing patterns then designing clothes and accessories. A love of color and texture was always present.

She completed a college degree in psychology and a Bachelor of Arts in sociology at McGill University, Montreal, taking several courses in art history. While working full time she pursued fashion design at LaSalle College in Montreal, learning technical drawing, design and color theory. From there, her passion for drawing and painting found expression.

She paints intuitively, with a strong belief in the effect of color on our mood. As the work takes shape and direction, she responds in turn, instilling a dialogue between artist and artwork. Her works strive to show the limitations of our perceptions. How we see depends our approach, our lens, and what we choose to see. This is a reflection of how we move through the world. Her art is a reminder that there is always something new to discover.

Originally from Montréal, Québec, she is now an expat, living in Ontario.
