Philippe Roussel

Philippe Roussel was born in Nîmes ( South of France) in 1963. French artist painter and photographer.Referenced to the Taylor Foundation for Art in Paris and in the ‘ Guide Drouot Quotation of Painters ‘ and 'Artprice'.
He created his first works with ‘gouache’ at the age of 10. After the university, he took private lessons in art history. Passionate about archeology and ancient Mediterranean civilizations, he follows very young, the excavations in the region and sketched on paper the details of mosaics and reliefs discovered. It definitely says his favorite course and energetic pencil but arouses his desire to work on the track and memory.His vigorous style and speed in the execution of his works made ​​him opt for acrylic rather than oil. From the age of 20 years, his style, closer to the figurative, begins to move towards a semi abstraction much more personal.

Today, Philippe Roussel painting tells the story of his life and particularly strong periods and milestones that are marked. Philippe Roussel paints the surrounding landscape, this ‘Garrigue Nîmoise’ those around him, so present, so significant and so powerful.
