Rudy Bortolini

Building works in a deconstructive collage of magazines and posters gathered on his travels, Rudy Bortolini’s technique of décollage is graphically bold and rough, as he energetically tears and manipulates his imagery to give it a life of its own through his vivid use of media. Faces, text, and color are fractured, shifted, layered and obscured with an ephemeral spontaneity, suggesting hidden emotional memories.

A painter for many years, Bortolini abandoned the medium in favor of the fresh energy and expression of décollage. Born in Treviso, Italy, he now divides his time between Stockholm, Sweden and Italy.
