Rupert Gredler

Born 1955 in Salzburg, AustriaI get my inspiration from every days life. If You want reality, take the bus, says a famous American fotographer. So, I take the bus, I walk a lot to watch people and find situations and scenes, which seem worthy to work on. Nothing is as absurd as life.My artwork consists mainly of two parts: The portraits, commissions in most cases, and the big figurative paintings. Both parts must not be seperated. Before I start to paint, a lot of drawings have to be made. I call my style a drammatic expressive realism with a touch of humor.

Studied mathematics at the University of Salzburg till 1990, joined a dance group from 1990 till 1992, studied painting with Prof. Franz Luby in Vienna till 1995, worked as a signmaker, founded the artistsgroup. ODD in 1997, founded the projekt-gallery : halle4 in Salzburg 2005,
