Inspired by the Rorschach inkblot test, and by my own experiences, I paint my journey through life.
Even in its abstraction, my work is a perceptible visual diary of events and occasions - each work remembering something important or personal. Titles support the story behind the piece, giving direction to the viewer, developing my artistic language and what I want to say about my life and experiences through art.
My painting technique reflects impulse, spontaneity, and passion. Working instinctively and without a plan in mind makes it cathartic. Through paint daubs, patterns and layers, I communicate what I find hard to put into words.
As life changes and new challenges emerge, as paint and mediums mix, the work suggests fluidity and openness. But maintains complexity and intrigue through patterns and pairing of bright colours. The work gains depth and vibrancy through cutouts and layers of painted paper. Creating compelling visuals, revealing details; echoing my life, as it unfolds.
