Myra Evans

Myra Evans is a visual artist living and working in Toronto, Canada and San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. After retiring from a long, rewarding career as a high school teacher and administrator, Myra discovered the joys of painting, especially using water media. After 15 years of creating impressionistic water colour portraits, she is now experimenting with acrylics, pastels ,hand made paper, collage/texturizing techniques, inks and watercolours. Exploring abstraction using figurative images with alternative mediums has been an on-going adventure. Her time and energy has been focused on developing as a painter. Art making for Myra is a life long process.

Myra has a B.A. in English( Hunter College) and an M.S. in English/Education( University of Wisconsin)

Her Art training includes many years of study at the Halliburton School for the Arts, Loyalist College, The Hudson Valley School of Art and the Blue Mountain School of Painting. She has studied with well known artists who are working in water-colour and acrylic, in particular, Frank Webb, Jack Reid, Skip Lawrence, and Sterling Edwards.

Myra considers her work to be influenced by extensive world travel and her life in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico during the winter months (2002-2019).
