I'm an artist from Montreal, Canada currently based in Annapolis in the US.
My work explores the themes of isolation, wonderment, nature and the complexity of alienation in a super connected world.
Being an orphan child of immigrant parents and growing up in an orphanage, I’ve always had a difficult time finding a sense of belonging. That is when I found Japanese manga and anime and they became a source of self-acceptance for me, a world where differences merged together and formed a peculiar identity open to anyone and everyone.
The seemingly fictional realities of manga like characters is much more fact as it reflects day to day human anxieties and remoteness of interpersonal relationships. Fantasy is an underlying line of escape in my work that offers breathing room to see what the painting is really trying to interpret. I’m emotionally driven and painting is my imagination and dreams based on very conscious uncertainties.
