Sarah Keenan

I was born in Arbroath, Scotland but was raised in Crosby which is a suburb of Liverpool, England. I now live 20 miles north of Liverpool in the seaside town of Southport.

I have worked in IT for the last 25 years and have always wanted to spend more time painting and sewing but have never had the time. Luckily I was made redundant from my job last year and since then I have been painting and sewing constantly.

I like to add humour to my art and I have dabbled in stand up comedy and performed at the Edinburgh festival as part of a double act called 'Penguin'. I like to take well known art work and add a comedic twist and also a dog or two. I also like rabbits and budgies.

I love sewing and see quilts as painting with fabric. I started making quilts after reading 'Patchwork' by Kaffe Fassett. This book is a constant inspiration to me.

I use acrylics to create paintings but also like using ink pens and adding colour with inktense pencils. I sell cards of my work in my etsy shop. I am inspired by Michael Sowa, Rory Dobner and my dog Henry. I also admire the craftsmanship of Faberge.
