Sarah O'Connor

My current Artwork consists of a mix of work ranging from paintings, drawings, prints, photographs. I enjoy a wide variety of mediums.
Earlier on in life I exhibited at The National Gallery of NSW - Australia Art Express 1996 with a series of mono prints about self acceptance, beauty and the human figure. Since then I gained entry in a BA Degree in Fine Art and later completing a BA of Photography. I love to make portraits and am influenced by beauty, celebrity, fashion, music, and popular culture.

I like reproduction, appropriation, and big colourful bold imagery. I am an expert digital artist, mixed media, painting, photography and printmaking. I love making images.

Artist of interest to me are: Bret Whitely, Bromley&Co, Helmet Newton, David LaChapelle, Andy Warhol, Basquait, Le Corbusier and William De Kooning amongst many others.

I was born and raised in Byron Bay. I completed my Higher School Education at Byron Bay High School, a small beach town located on Australia’s most easterly point. Known for its serene spirit and beautiful scenery. A community that is famous for breeding creativity and attracting worldwide attention to Local Artists, Writers, Fashion and Music Festivals.
I achieved in the top 10% of New South Wales for Visual Arts Australia. I was then accepted into the College of Fine Arts, University of New South Wales in Sydney. I studied a BA of Fine Art and it was there I also discovered photography as a medium. I went on to further study at the Queensland College of Arts at Griffith University to study BA in Photography. I have worked as a Designer and Art Director in top worldwide full service advertising agencies.
