Sophie Cohen-Scali

Born in 1964 (Casablanca) and grow up in Israel, Jerusalem.
At the age of 21 she left Israel, traveled several years and finally settled in the
south west of France.
In 1993-94, she study murals and "trompe l'oeil" techniques (INSTEP - 47) and continues to develop her own art work through self- study.
Freelance artist - (Maison des Artistes- Paris) since 1996
Fields of creation: Paintings, Drawing, Installations

Her current artistic approach:
Seas, oceans, deserts, wastelands, horizons - large spaces that attract her because of their aridity, their infinity, their fullness, their loneliness, but also the hope and illusion that they carry with them.
She tries to understand the man's ties with these spaces that mirror his loneliness and his desire for independence on the one hand, and his need for belonging, shelter and security, on the other hand.
Landscapes, characters, creatures, clothing, suitcases, cabins... are materials and themes in her work to express the relationship between man and the multitude of spaces concerning him.
