Karen Larson

I am an American artist living and painting in Paris, France as serafiavictoria. My most recent paintings are autobiographical narrative landscapes about childhood. Family photographs and other non-tangible memories often inspire my work.

The works have a rich color palette. Multiple glazes and gold leaf infuse light into the scenarios. Reconsidering my childhood has given me hope for reconciliation of the past and has enabled me to safely examine the mystery of attachment and association in the family landscape. These paintings are about being happy as a child but there are also disturbing elements and a kind of sadness about them.
