Serkan Altinoz

Serkan Altinoz was born in Istanbul and raised in Izmir Turkey in 1985. He began training as a paper marbler at an early age under the tutelage of his father Sedat Altinoz, a 5th generation artist at the Mustafa Duzgunman School in Turkey. Altinoz joined many group exhibition in his early age in Turkey . Also he graduated from 9 eylul University Labour Economics and Industrial Relation in 2011.
His fresh approach to the art form stems from his personal spirit and insight. His work evokes cellular and organic forms and structures that easily find a place within contemporary trends in fiber and paper works and installations.
Altinoz has been developing his oeuvre outside the conventional art school environment and his devotion to the natural world and skill as a musician strongly inform his aesthetic. Organic is a word that cannot be overused when speaking of his techniques and results. He is an artist firmly committed to a fantastically lush palette of hand-crushed pigments that are derived from natural materials. His lyrical compositions carry the viewer’s eye along currents that describe the fluid watery base on which they are created.
