In the years since completing my degree in fine arts,
I have divided my time between teaching art (drawing the live model, watercolour) and practising it.
I was head of both the print workshop and the drawing and painting department at the Saidye Bronfman Centre School of Fine Arts in Montreal, Quebec until it closed in 2007. I now give periodic workshops in my studio.
My work has always been figurative. Inspiration comes from life or a photo. At some point the drawing takes on a persona of its own and becomes an inhabitant of my world.
I work spontaneously at the beginning, but I like to set work aside for a period of time, allowing myself a certain distance and a change of perspective or approach. Some works can therefore take years to complete.
