Susan Griffith-Jones

I mainly work with the traditional materials of oil on canvas. My major interest is colour and the way colours behave and interact with each other, and particularly in the way the sense of a place, the suggestion of hidden forms, the light and dark of a landscape, can be brought out with the use of colour.

My current work is based on the evocation of places remembered, mainly in Italy and France though my early childhood in Scotland and the Bahamas also play their part. These pieces are quite large - generally a metre square.

I also make much smaller, more free-form, pieces in acrylic on paper or oil on board as well as prints and assemblages.

I graduated from the Bath School of Art and Design with a degree in Fine Art in 2011 after working in university administration for thirty years.
