Stojan Djuric

The realistic and the abstract being my starting points, I encapsulate several layers of reality, transposing them into almost abstract forms. Images are my immediate experience, a mixture of the abstract and the real. In one place only one can see a multitude of different forms. The same applies to clouds, water, soil... They are underlying causes for my freedom of expression in the process of constructing an image. Poetry is the driving force behind my decision how to arrange motifs on my canvases. The eyes rejoicing to see the light, that is the atmosphere which creates a vision of beauty. It cannot be surpassed because it is art per se. I am striving to get rid of pure description, to purify unnecessary elements, to simplify the form. After a careful introspection, I give my painting a final form and it is reflected through a prism of my emotions. The search for a fantastic path of creating a painting, from the simple towards perfection, is a thread or a line which is lifelike. The path of creation is life. The new form represents the contact between my subconscious and the external, real and assumes the role of my new personal symbol.

Graduated the Faculty of Fine Arts in Belgrade, where he also received his MA. He is a member of ULUS. He lives and works in Belgrade and Velika Plana.
