Stephen Brown

Based in Lakewood, Colorado, I have been fabricating metal projects and wall sculpture for over ten years. My work can be described as realistic representations of nature translated to metal. I have enjoyed increasing success selling my artwork at art festivals, galleries, and to clients who want personalized custom commissions. I am self-taught, so it took me longer to perfect my artistic and metalworking skills, however this forced him to develop my own unique technique and style that would likely never have developed under conventional instruction. Nature is the subject most compelling to me; in my mind the most successful pieces are as close to natural form as possible while still revealing the true nature of the metal material. Thus I have increasing avoided the need to use excess coloring or opaque finishes, which are include aspen forests, leaves, mountain and desert landscapes, and coral reef scenes. My style has also grown increasingly three dimensional over the past several years which is something metal is uniquely well suited for. The medium of metal art lends itself to nearly unlimited direction on form and expression, and I feel like I have barely scratched the surface of the medium.
