Ivan Štimac is a Croatian painter, graphic artist and restorer, born in 1947 in Zagreb. He spent his entire career as a senior conservator – restorer at the Croatian Restoration Institute. He was mainly engaged in the restoration of paintings by Baroque masters, who painted with oil on canvas, and in the restoration of Gothic and Baroque frescoes and wall paintings throughout the Republic of Croatia. Among other things, he restored paintings by renowned Croatian modern painter Miroslav Kraljević and baroque master Ivan Ranger. Although his painting vocation was his first love, restoration work prevented him from pursuing a painting career. However, in retirement, he finally has time to return to painting and is experiencing a flourishing that seeks to restore at least part of what he missed.
