Suzie Black

I was born in New Jersey right outside of New York City and was lucky enough to be exposed to great art at a young age. I personally discovered that I was an artist when I was 17 years old and tried my hand at my first painting when nobody was home. It was wonderful.

I’ve been doing art ever since then finding my way as a portrait painter with an expressionist leaning as well as loving to do abstracts.. Painting is my joy. I’ve been teaching it all my life and I am represented in a wonderful gallery in Cave Creek Arizona called The Finer Arts Gallery. I love sharing my art with other people because it’s a happy energy that I want to spread.

I attended the George Washington University in Washington D.C.
I got my BA there in English and Secondary Education. I stayed on and worked part time while I attended classes in art and fell in love with painting again.
I went back to school and received my MA in Secondary Education so that I could teach art to high school kids.While I was doing that I fell in love with Art Therapy so I got an MA in that as well. It turned out that I was delighted to teach little kids and taught in a regular classroom in an arts based school where everybody celebrated art every day.
All the while I was painting and attending different wonderful non-degree schools like the Art Students’ League and Scottsdsle Artist School in Scottsdale Arizona. I have always been a student and I have always been a teacher of art.
