My current works of abstract photography and minimal painting focus on artifacts of our society in urban spaces and natural environments. The images may be seen as documentation of a momentary state but also as elements with a past - whether forgotten, lost or discarded.
The tightly framed views, taken out of their normal context, are mementos of memories and existences that are often passed by each day in the pursuit of new objects and new experiences. The lost value of these forsaken fragments echoes our relationships to people, resources and processes. A disregard leading to behaviors that affect our society and lifestyles and that are shaping our future.
These photographic compositions are influenced by both abstraction and post-minimalism. With their deteriorating, painterly beauty, they are reminders of the once valued state of the objects around us and emphasize our present behavior in a larger context, as actors in this unsustainable world.
