Gyula Szabo

I was born in 1983, I working in the tradition of Magical Realism, inspired by the Viennese school of the early 20th century. In my work, I combine precise, detailed representation with a quiet, mysterious atmosphere. Everyday objects and ordinary spaces become charged with symbolic meaning, inviting the viewer to look beyond surface reality.

Influenced by the ideas of Franz Roh and artists associated with the Neue Sachlichkeit, I seek to reveal the hidden tension between the visible world and inner experience. My paintings aim to create stillness, clarity, and a subtle sense of the uncanny — where reality remains recognizable, yet feels transformed.
