Taiwo Apampa

Taiwo Apampa is a Nigerian-Canadian visual artist whose work celebrates identity, resilience, and culture through bold, vibrant compositions. Formerly a fashion designer, she brings her deep love of textiles and architecture into her art, creating portraits and mixed-media works that honor heritage and storytelling. Her pieces have been exhibited internationally, including in New York and Ottawa, and her art continues to champion empowerment, cultural pride, and human connection.

Artist Statement

My art is a celebration of stories—especially those of women whose strength, joy, and resilience often go unseen. I use bold colors, layered textures, and Afrocentric influences to capture both vulnerability and power, weaving together history, culture, and personal expression. Each piece is more than an image, it is a narrative meant to uplift, inspire, and connect. Through my work, I hope viewers not only see beauty but also feel the heartbeat of a legacy that declares: we are here, we are vibrant, and our joy is unstoppable.
