Michal Těhel

I was born on 4th of june, 1975 in Ústí nad Orlicí. I spent my entire childhood in the picturesque town of Brandýs nad Orlicí, where many important personalities such as Jan Amos Comenius lived. I graduated as electrical engineer, and in fact until 1994, I never thought I could paint.

For the first time I tried painting while I was "in green" and right after the mandatory military service I bought my first oil paints and began to create. At first I learned the techniques of Flemish masters by painting copies of their masterpieces. The more I fell for the magic of painting, the more I sought a method that would best fit my vision of the world. The moment I met Salvatore Dali´s works and after I tried to copy some of them, my decision was made. These paintings that in pure lines and inexhaustible color shades express not only the mood but also the idea or action of the painter - that is my vision of the surreal world. I quickly switched to my own ideas and works. The less satisfied periods of my life are all reflected in my work and their grimness is evident in paintings from the four-year period between 2006 and 2010.
