Tess Gray

I am an artist born in South Wales and currently based in Cardiff.

Studies from life, automatic sketching, photography and found images are used in the process to create paintings and often stand as finished works in themselves.
Often following specific projects,
I create images to represent ideas, moments and impressions as opposed to producing a personal style in which to place concept and message. Idiosyncrasies remain with a love of romanticism and narratives of myth, magic and absurdity.

From 2014-2016 my work focused on post war housing, their relationship with nature and in turn our human relation to an ever growing suburbia, the ideal home and home ownership.
