Tony Wells

I am a self taught artist. My collages take the form of movement and harmony with its structure and color schemes. The manipulation of old magazines, books and image sources allowed me to pull my media from other peoples' garbage which helps inspire resourcefulness. Most of my collages are made up of several hundred separate pieces of paper with carefully chosen image, color and structural properties. Although making my collages may take time, I become immersed and allow things to be revealed to me as much as I deliberately construct them. I hope the end product draws you into it and allows you to to spend time reciprocally.
My other favored medium is pencils. It educes familiarity, simplicity and directness. I prefer portraits because the subtle beauty of facial expression is endless because of our acute sensitivity to it.
