the Diwään 🔊 /diˈwän/™ ​🎨 (Cedric Dewan Seay). My middle name has about 30 different ways to spell it considering that it is of Persian origin. I chose the variation "the Diwään" to use as my alias.

I create works within series, and those series' motifs are fairly obvious to the observer. My professional practice began in 2015.

I explore form, line, motion, repetition, rhythm, and texture. Creating is a sanctuary. I'm partial to acrylics and cradled wood panels. I'm moved by usual observations, or my 'universal antenna' poaches ideas from thin air. Concepts are born in short bursts or percolate over time. 'Employ customary and non-standard tools. Alteration and sequence are allies.​ Order and random cohabitate.
