Tim Lowry

Born and raised in Connecticut, I was fortunate to be exposed to myriad artistic influences by way of my proximity to Yale University and New York City.

Just before my move to Nashville about thirteen years ago I became enamored with Mixed Media. This platform offered endless material sources, tools and subject possibilities.

My personal version of the form has been described as "Whimsical and Romantic," "Insightful and Intelligent," "Bold and Rich," and my personal favorite, "Uniquely off Center."

Although Contemporary, influences evident in my work include Impressionism, Abstractionism and Pop Art, but generally speaking, I am not fond of labels. I instead choose to repurpose the words of Duke Ellington, "If it sounds good, it's good." As you might expect, I have no use for self appointed Critics poised to hand down declarations defining what is right and what is wrong.

There is no right. There is no wrong. There is only what speaks to a viewer and what does not, but neither has any bearing on what I choose to create and how I choose to create it.

As a teenager my first creative expression took visual form. I attended Paier School of Art concentrating on Charcoal Still Life and later moved to Illustrative Design within Advertising and Promotional contexts.

For most of my life, I have also been a Writer of
Music, Prose and Poetry.
