As an engineer and designer in the amusement industry, Schmidt designs roller coasters and water slides, crafting precise and functional spatial curves that thrill and inspire. These dynamic shapes serve as a creative foundation for his art—yet on canvas, they are deliberately dissolved, reinterpreted, and transformed into free-flowing, expressive forms.
Schmidt’s artistic journey began in his school years, where he explored sculpture and participated in art-focused study trips.
