I was born in Scotland in 1957. My family emigrated to the US in 1959. My uncle was a painter who studied at Pratt Institute. I was inspired by his passion at an early age. I studied at the Art Studends League of New York with noted painters Irwin Greenberg and Sharon Sprung. I also studied with sculptor Frank Porcu. I was awarded a scholarship for merit by the Art Students League. The competition was judged by Audrey Flack and Russell Connor. I was also included in a group show at Viridian Artists in Chelsea. The show was judged by Charlotte Kotik curator of painting and sculpture at the Brooklyn Museum of Art. My passion for painting is inspired by my love of people and places and the idiosyncratic nature within.
