Uno Svensson was born in Kallinge, Sweden, in 1929. He grew up in a musical an reliious home. As a child he bible was drawing a lot and he copied Gustave Dorés bible illustrations,fascinating pictures for generations of children.
Uno Svensson apocalyptic theme forms an epic chronicle from recent chapters. His paintings have a kind of mysterous beauty. Green is totally missing in them.

He has lived and worked the most time in Malmö, Paris and Nice.
He has done one man exhibtions and took part in group exhibitions in more than 20 countries.

After studies in his hometown and in Malmö he worked for many years in different export companies as a correspondent. But he aslo painted and he studied several years at art schools in Malmö. His art became more and more advanced but it took a long time before he becoma a full time artist.
In 1949 he an his brother had made a journey by train through a Europe destroyed by bombs and only fragmentarily rebuil, a trip that left lasting impressions. In the long row of big industrial cities in ruins he met in a very concrete and sturdy way the destructive human madness which in different variations has been a fundamental theme in his art.
Two long periods in Spain in the sixties had great importance for his future scale of
colours in black, white and red.
Thus the basis for important and succesful artistic accomplishment was created. His art has since then developed with remarkeble loic and pmpressive seriousness.

After his debut at Galerie Colibri in Malmö in 1957 with ascetic abstract gouaches Uno Svensson has treated several themes in his art.
