Valeria Ferrari

I was born in Azul, Buenos Aires, in 1978.

I originally trained as a translator and worked for several years with language and meaning. Over time, however, I felt that words were no longer enough to contain what I wanted to express. This quiet shift led me toward painting, and toward color as another form of language.

Since 2015, painting has become part of my daily life. My practice unfolds as an ongoing search. I explore different materials and techniques, working with lines, graphisms, and gestural marks that emerge through the process.

Lately, my work has increasingly focused on watercolor. Through study and experimentation with this medium, I have become interested in its fluidity, transparency, and the subtle dialogue it creates between control and chance. As part of my current process (2026), the graphisms that once appeared as gestural marks in my paintings have gradually evolved into fluid ink lines that function as drawing. I combine these lines with watercolor, allowing both mediums to interact and unfold on the surface.

For me, painting is a space of exploration—an open field where the act of searching, finding, and discovering continues to unfold.
