Valentina Benaglio

Valentina Benaglio is a Mexican-Italian contemporary artist based in Brooklyn, NY. Her work centers on expressive oil portraits of women, exploring the delicate tension between fragility and resilience. Through blurred brushwork and emotional depth, she captures the shifting nature of memory, identity, and emotion. Her latest series, It Was All a Blur, embodies this interplay with bold contrasts and a distinctive blurring technique that mirrors the impermanence of lived experiences while honoring the quiet strength found in vulnerability. Benaglio’s figurative compositions form a visual language of disconnection, transformation, and renewal. Drawing from both personal and collective narratives, she creates spaces where uncertainty becomes a catalyst for growth. Each portrait invites viewers to step in, discover reflections of themselves, and complete the story.
