Venetia Brant

I am mainly a self taught artist. I have been living in Spain for most of my life. The intense light, bright blue skies and distorted olive trees often being an inspiration for the background in my pictures. My work relates my innermost feelings and state of mind at specific moments of my life. They are drawn in a surrealistic style using lead graphite and pastel. Occasionally I introduce collage to enhance different parts. My art is as though it were a theatrical stage setting fixed in time. My portraits have a serene composed style undoubtedly due to my fascination of Italian Renassaince Portraiture.

In the beginning I attended Banbury School of Art in the U.K from 1970 - 1972, moving on to live in Spain I took up further drawing and painting studies at Gaia Art Academy in Valencia from 1990 - 1995. From then onwards working on my own in my private studio and also collaborating and drawing with art colleagues at their different studios.
